The first few minutes of your morning sets the tone for your entire day.  The following 10 tips will change your life profoundly forever.  I will explain each more fully in upcoming blogs and videos.

Here are 10 hacks to your morning ritual that the healthiest, happiest and most successful people on the planet follow no matter the culture, the country or the conditions.

Now, for some cultures, the next day begins in the evening.  So, I am claiming that as my justification for starting your morning ritual with one evening ritual.

  1. Chunks for success: I am  not playing with you, but your first transformational morning ritual starts the night before.  Early in the evening, not before bed, consider the most necessary actions you need or want to take for the next day.  Write them down without editing.  Then, take each, one at a time.  Chunk it into small enough pieces so that whatever it is can be accomplished.  Note from whom you might need help, the resources or guidance you may need, and what is the healthiest way to deal with possibility that life may happen and despite your best intentions, whatever it is might not get done.  Do not do this before bed.  I do not want your mind churning about any of this before bed.  However, if you chunk down the important stuff to bite-sized pieces the night before, they are not so worrisome the next day.  Then, when this is done, this exercise is only complete when  you spend about 5 minutes (you can make this more than 5 minutes when you want) listing everything that and everyone who brought joy, prosperity, a smile or laught, a bit of love, inspiration, positive transformation, and gratitude to you that day.  End with a thank you or amen (whatever works for you).  Smile (even if you have to force it).  Take a slow, deep breath and let it out slowly.
  2. Awaken with an app or “alarm” (google circadian rhythm apps and alarms – – there are plenty to find) that work with your body’s circadian rhythm. Our alarms often awaken us when we are still in deep stage sleep.  That creates disorientation, less healing for the brain and body, less energy production in the brain and body, and a lack of optimal focus and concentration that we may carry with us for hours after we awaken.  There are apps that use light to gently awaken us when deep stage sleep is over and we are ready to complete that cycle and awaken.  Some use soft sounds that we hear when deep stage is over.  But don’t worry, they have back-ups with a more conventional kind of alarm if the more gentle methods do not awaken you.  You will not miss your meeting, class or anything else.
  3. Find a prayer, quote, saying, song to hum or sing, poem or some key words that are positive, inspiring, motivational and just plain make sure that the first thoughts in your head and heart are those you want to influence your day and deepest self. You know how often music that you hear first thing in the morning gets “stuck” in your head all day long and persists like background music or sound for hours and hours.  Well, if your first thoughts or words are negative then guess what?  That is your background music influencing your brain, your emotions, and your beliefs all day every day.
  4. Have 12-16 ounces of fresh, pure water with a bit of lemon. You may add any trace minerals, green powder, homeopathic cell salts, a pinch of pink, Himalayan sea salt if tolerated.  You should feel refreshed, hydrated, and the drink should sit well with you.  We are dehydrated, overly acidic creatures.  Both create the basis for disease, fatigue, moodiness, chronic inflammation, poor brain and body functioning, lack of glow to skin, nails and hair, constipation and toxic build-up, poor gut bacteria and lack of nutrient production by good bacteria, hunger, cravings (should I go on???)
  5. 5 minutes of deep, slow, belly breathing through the nose to a count of 4-5 in and 4-5 out (I will explain why in the future) or any yoga, tai chi or qigong with synchronized deep breathing. Everyone can do this no matter his or her health status.  By the way, there are several apps like “Headspace” or heart coherence apps to help you with breathing, visualization, heart centered respiration exercises (google heart coherence apps, cardiac breathing apps, HeartMath apps, The Chopra center, etc.).
  6. Vision board (to be explained) or guided visualization or prayer or meditation so that you drive deep into your consciousness certain images, thoughts, aspirations, goals. You need only 5 minutes but spend as long as you like with this.
  7. Some brain games. These can be found in many different apps, technologies, websites (Lumosity, AARP, and many others easily found).  Spend 5-10 minutes exercising your brain.
  8. Find your inspirational music, speakers, sounds, or things that make you laugh and smile for the first hour of your morning. Don’t let the news or other influences make you toxic or polluted first thing in the morning.  This has nothing to do with politics or being an informed adult.  There is plenty of time in the day for that.  Just don’t start your morning out that way.
  9. Healthy breakfast or meal saved for whenever you plan to eat it (if you are practicing intermittent fasting you may not eat breakfast). Plan for it the night before, if you find you do not have enough time in the morning.  Working with me and my team will help you discover what your body needs as its first meal of the day.  It is easy and takes little time for us to analyze your body and create options for you).
  10. Set your laptop, phone or use an app to remind you to stop frequently throughout the day to hydrate (make a lot of the your morning water mix and keep it with you), take 5 or so gentle, deep, energizing breaths, acknowledge something that has occurred for which you have appreciation or gratitude or might evoke feelings of love. Really take just a moment to linger in that appreciation, gratitude and love.  Have moments like this often.

BE PATIENT.  EXPERIMENT AND EXPLORE AS IF YOU WERE TRYING TO FIND YOUR FAVORITE CHOCOLATE OR WINE OR SCENT/FRAGRANCE.  GIVE YOURSELF TIME.  INTRODUCE ITEMS GRADUALLY.  THIS IS A LIFETIME RITUAL.  BEGIN A THOUSAND MILE JOURNEY WITH A SINGLE STEP.  DISCOVER WITH A SENSE OF JOY WHAT WORKS FOR YOU.  RITUALS TAKE A WHILE TO HABITUATE.  BE REGULAR WITH THE RITUALS YOU ESTABLISH.  PLANTS SEEDS.  LET THEM TAKE ROOT.  NOURISH AND WATER THEM.  LET THEM GERMINATE AND GROW IN THEIR OWN TIME.

YOUR LIFE WILL BE CHANGED FOREVER.
