Steven M. Rosman, D.C., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM), PhD, LMHC (NY), LAc. (NY)  graduated with Honors from Palmer College of Chiropractic Florida.  There he was awarded Most Outstanding Future Alumnus by his peers and was nominated by his peers and by a member of the Clinical Faculty for the Dr James Beurkle Memorial Award, representing a graduating doctor who best exemplifies the virtues of compassion and unconditional positive regard for his patients, excellence in interpersonal skills, strong leadership, commitment to service, and passion for the Chiropractic profession.  Previously, he graduated as the Valedictorian of his class at the New York College where he spent four years studying acupuncture, Cum Laude from New York University where he earned his PhD in Education, and Summa Cum Laude from Hofstra University where he studied Physical Education and History.  Additionally, he has spent two decades in post graduate education, certification training and studies in mental health counseling (with NY licensing in Mental Health Counseling), Functional Medicine and nutrition, blood chemistry analysis, homeopathy and homotoxicology, BCIA biofeedback and neurofeedback certification, personal fitness training, sports and fitness nutrition, and Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction training.   At Palmer, he took elective classes in Sacral Occipital Technique, Gonstead Technique, Basic and Advanced Activator instrument technique, and Flexion/Distraction.

Prior to chiropractic school, Dr. Rosman spent 16 years in both private and group practices as nutritionist, acupuncturist, psychotherapist, and mind/body specialist and saw more than 20,000 patients during that time.  For a five year period, he was the Director of the Department of Complementary Medicine at a 100+ physician practice on Long Island.  His patients included those diagnosed with:  chronic pain; inflammatory conditions; musculoskeletal disorders; obesity; diabetes II, cardiovascular disease; autoimmune diseases; various cancers; chronic fatigue; fibromyalgia; endocrine (hormonal) disorders; anxiety; depression; ADD/ADHD; Autism Spectrum Disorders; Irritable Bowel Syndrome; gastrointestinal disorders like GERD, Crohns Disease, and Ulcerative Colitis and functional GI conditions like Leaky Gut.  It was there that Dr. Rosman participated in the treatment of players from the New York Jets and the New York Islanders, and during his years of practice on Long Island, legendary Coach Tokey Hill, the Director of Coaching and Director of High Performance for Team USA Karate , gave him opportunities to work his athletes, students, and MMA fighters.

Dr. Rosman has been invited to speak at the 2001 National Football League’s Owners’ Meeting, at NYU Medical Center’s Sports Symposium, at Hofstra University’s Sports Medicine Symposium, at ­Long Island University’s College of Management’s Long Island Women’s Institute on the topic of stress management, at the Sports Vision Section of the American Optometric Association,  and many other similar venues.

In 1998, Dr. Rosman completed the Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction in Mind-Body Medicine professional training for clinical therapists.  This unique mindfulness and meditation program was taught by Drs. Jon Kabat-Zinn and Saki Santorelli.  Dr. Kabat-Zinn is widely regarded as the “father” of the mindfulness movement in the United States and the seminal figure in the realm of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction.  Moreover, he collaborated with Dr. Anne Webster of Harvard University and the Benson-Henry Institute for Mind/Body Medicine of the Massachusetts General Hospital to create the LifeBalance program to serve patients with chronic pain conditions, anxiety, depression, IBS, fibromyalgia, autoimmune conditions, and functional disorders.

­Dr. Rosman has been a guest on television and numerous radio programs where he has been invited to talk about complementary medicine, parenting, and mindfulness.  His honors also include appointments as Contributing Editor and Member of the Medical Advisory Boards of Court Time Tennis and Fitness Magazine and Mindful Parenting Magazine  (sadly, the last two periodicals are no longer published) and as a Member of the Executive and Medical Advisory Boards of the American Association of Integrative Medicine.   He is a member of a select group of medical professionals to earn Certification as a Functional Medicine Practitioner.

Dr. Rosman has been published in the best-selling book, The Patient’s Outstanding Guide to Breast Cancer Care, Advances in Neurology: Neurological Complications in Pregnancy, Sports Vision magazine, Court Time Tennis and Fitness magazine and Mindful Parenting magazine, among others.

He is a member in good standing in the Florida Chiropractic Association, the American Chiropractic Association, the American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the American Association of Integrative Medicine, and more.

Dr. Rosman is married (very happily) to Marcia (whom he calls “his blessing”).  Marcia is a psychotherapist practicing in Punta Gorda and a Trauma  and PAC-U Nurse who has practiced in hospitals around the country.  They have four children whom they adore:  Mikki, Ilan, Akeem and Jahmal.  They range in age from 23-28, and they are living joyful lives In New York and Florida.
